These Artists Create Adorable Birds Out Of Paper

Re-create By Sabrina / May, 29, 2025

Indian artists and designers Nayan Shrimali and Vaishali Chudasama started it off as a challenge. They created miniature birds using only paper and watercolors, every day for one year.

We couldn’t believe it till we saw their Instagram account with more than 13k followers. We knew it by then that the hype was real.

The artists explained, “The concept of this miniatures is to express the intricacy and vibrancy of the birds around us. We used the technique of layered paper cutting to give volume to the artworks and get a three-dimensional feel to them.”

All of their works are hand-cut and hand-painted. Each layer is painted with precision and one artwork takes about 4-8 hours, depending on the detailing of the art.

They also create animals out of paper and even sell jewelry and dioramas. Let’s dive in their art.

535/730, Number five hundred and thirty five from our 730 Days of miniature Nature art ~ Chinese crested tern … This artwork is part of a project @onemilliononemonth .. This is is a wonderful initiative by @onemilliononemonth for spreading awareness about endangered species of our world.. We were so grateful to be a part of this amazing project… Thank you @onemilliononemonth for making us part of this initiative.. Check out @onemilliononemonth for more information of many other species… . . SAVE NATURE SAVE WORLD . . . . The Chinese crested tern (Thalasseus bernsteini) is a tern in the family Laridae, closely related to the Sandwich tern, T. sandvicensis, and the lesser crested tern, T. bengalensis. It is most similar to the former, differing only in the bill pattern, which is the reverse of the Sandwich tern's, being yellow with a black tip. From the lesser crested tern, which it overlaps in wintering distribution, it can be told by the white rump and paler grey mantle, as well as the black tip to the bill, which seen from up close also has a white point. The larger greater crested tern is also similar, differing in its stouter, all-yellow bill and darker grey mantle and rump, as well as in size. . . . . #bird #papercut #paperart #papercutart #sculpture #paperbirds #miniature #chinesecrestedtern #savebirds #endangeredspecies #ternsofinstagram #contemporaryart #artcurator #naturalhistoryillustration #artistofinstagram #birdlover #birds_nature #birdnerd #nvillustration #etsy #beautifulbirds #365feathersproject

542/730, Number five hundred and forty two from our 730 Days of miniature Nature art ~ The ʻiʻiwi …. . . SAVE NATURE SAVE WORLD . . . . The ʻiʻiwi (Drepanis coccinea, pronounced /iːˈiːviː/, ee-EE-vee), or scarlet honeycreeper is a "hummingbird-niched" species of Hawaiian honeycreeper. It is one of the most plentiful species of this family, many of which are endangered or extinct. The ʻiʻiwi is a highly recognizable symbol of Hawaiʻi. The ʻiʻiwi is the third most common native land bird in the Hawaiian Islands. Large colonies of ʻiʻiwi inhabit the islands of Hawaiʻi, Maui, and Kauaʻi, with smaller colonies on Molokaʻi and Oʻahu but are no longer present on Lānaʻi. Altogether, the remaining populations total 350,000 individuals, but are decreasing. . . . . #bird #papercut #paperart #papercutart #sculpture #paperbirds #miniature #iiwi #honeycreeper #endangeredspecies #beautifulbird #scarlethoneycreeper #contemporaryart #artcurator #naturalhistoryillustration #artistofinstagram #birdlover #birds_nature #birdnerd #nvillustration #etsy #365feathersproject
