Man Was Unaware Of His Painting Talent Until He Was Struck By An Illness
Rick Johnston, 49, from Indiana found himself in a terrifying situation where the right side of his body stopped working. The entire right side was deprived of any sensation. He lost his speaking and walking abilities with that incident.
According to the doctors, it wasn’t exactly a stroke in his case. His brain sent some signals to the body inducing it towards a stroke-like condition.
Johnston wasn’t the one who would lose hope and make peace with his condition. He was ready to fight, even though he knew there was a long way to go. He had to learn to speak again! It was a new journey for him.
Put yourself in Johnston’s shoes and imagine what you would have felt at that moment! It is similar to a thunderstorm attacking from all sides with no way to escape!

But Johnston picked himself up and knew where to head to get some help and motivation. Shelly Hunt, his speech pathologist guided him on the right path. She told him that he should paint to make his mind active and alert. Johnston’s response to her idea was, “You’re crazy. I can’t paint. I’m not an artist by any stretch.”
After some contemplation, Johnston decided to go that way and added some paints and brushes in his life. What happened next was unbelievable!

He was indulged in painting and how!
Those paints felt like they were healing him and his hands created some beautiful pieces which he had never imagined. As soon as he picked up the brush, his mind was calm and his stress levels saw a downfall. The process of painting was therapy for him now.
Something that he thought he could never do is now his passion. That’s what dedication and strength look like!
His paintings which include farms, horses, flowers and more wonderful elements of this world are beautiful.

His body might have been under the impact of an illness, but his mind and soul felt fresh. Moving his hands to form incredible art gave a sense of being full of life.
Johnston spends most of his time with the colors. He is still unable to figure out how his hands have developed this art. He loves painting now and when he can’t sleep due to his health problems, the paint brushes come to his rescue.
Lauren, 21, Johnston’s daughter, is in awe of what her dad has achieved despite some tough times. She wants the world to see what her dad creates with his new-found talent. She runs a Facebook page “The Bearded Painter” where all his paintings are posted. His paintings are for sale and people can order them.
All the money that arrives by selling those paintings would be donated to nonprofit organizations that are close to him.
Lauren gains a lot of strength and inspiration from her father. She is all praise for his determination and how he faced the storm of his life. Art is magical and can put someone on the road to recovery!
